The AAAA battery (usually read as quadruple-A) is 42.5 mm long and 8.3 mm in diameter, weighing around 6.5 g and produce 1.5 V. This battery is also classified as LR8D425 (IEC) and 25A (ANSI/NEDA). The battery is also known by its Duracell type number MN2500 or MX2500 and Energizer type number E96.
This battery size is most often used in devices requiring small batteries, such as laser pointers, LED penlights, powered computer styluses, glucose meters, and small headphone amplifiers. These batteries are not as popular as AAA or AA type batteries, and can be quite hard to find. However, a typical 9 volt battery may consist of a bundle of six AAAA cells inside, connected together by welded tabs or small circuit boards. If disassembled, most 9 volt batteries can easily provide a supply of AAAA batteries.[1][2] Some manufacturers, such as Rayovac, use stacks of rectangular batteries instead of AAAAs, and are not a good source. The average AAAA alkaline cell has approximately a 595 mAh capacity. The AAAA is also available in a PCB Tagged (tabbed) version, 8.4mm x 66mm, weighing 10.5g. These tagged AAAA batteries are NiMH rechargeable, and as such will charge from the PCB power supply they are soldered onto.
The N battery has typical uses that include remote-control door chimes, and other low current drain devices. Also used for wireless microphones and some laser pointers. |
